Tej Pratap steals RJD show on its Silver jubilee, embarasses leaders on dais
Patna, Jul 5 (UNI) Apparently vexed over not finding his photo on hoardings and posters of RJD erected to mark its silver jubilee, Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Monday had all the twists and turns in his speech sufficient enough to give mixed signals, while embarrassing senior leaders present on the dais to mark the occasion.
Mr Yadav, while delivering his speech at a function organized at the party headquarters to mark the silver jubilee function of RJD, made himself public that he had come to attend the function after a phone call from his father and party Chief Lalu Prasad.
“I was engaged in puja when my father Mr Lalu Prasad made a phone call asking me to go to the party office to attend the function”, Mr Yadav said adding that on his arrival at the venue, he found younger brother Tejaswi Prasad Yadav sitting on the chair at the venue. It meant Tejaswi had beaten him in occupying the chair, he remarked in a lighter vein.
The elder son of Lalu, in his own style said he did not see any reason for leaders to sit unnecessarily in party office everyday, an oblique remark against state RJD president and former Minister Jagdanand Singh. Dissidence in any party or organisation was a natural thing and those annoyed should be persuaded to fall in line, he suggested.
“Product of a factory sometimes gets deformed or developed any short of deficiency which is rejected by consumers”, Mr Yadav said and left the audience to draw its meaning. He asked women workers to raise their objections regarding not being given due importance, before all senior leaders including leader of the opposition Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and pointed out that women workers had been making him aware about their grievances in this connection.
Mr Yadav, who was also Health Minister in Nitish cabinet during grand alliance government in Bihar for almost
18 months till June 2017, said that he had called up several leaders when he was away from Patna, for helping a party worker to get admitted in hospital for treatment but no one picked up his phone. At last when he returned to Patna late night, he got the party worker admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), he added.
“A four wheeler should remain available with district presidents of RJD across Bihar so that any party worker could be rushed to hospital in case of any emergency”, Mr Yadav suggested. He also first asked party workers to raise their hands if they liked the idea and then asked senior leaders present on the dais to do so.
“It appears that Jagdanand uncle is annoyed with me, so he did not raise his hands”, Mr Yadav said while taking pot-shot at state president of RJD Jagdanand Singh. He had been criticising Mr Singh on several occasions earlier for one reason or the other.
Mr Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, while speaking at the function, said he apologised for any mistake committed by him. He also tried to appease Tej Pratap during his speech.
Later, RJD president Lalu Prasad while addressing the function online from the residence of his daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti in New Delhi, said that there was substance and strength in what Teja Pratap had pointed out. He, however, also appreciated Tejaswi Prasad Yadav for successfully leading RJD in 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections. It was really appreciable that Tejaswi had successfully handled politics in Bihar which was tough to deal with, he remarked.
