Swift and i20 Collide in Ludhiana Accident

Ludhiana : A serious road accident occurred late last night in Ludhiana when a Maruti Swift and a Hyundai i20 collided head-on, leaving five people injured. The accident happened on a busy stretch of road where a large stone in the middle is believed to have caused the mishap.

According to eyewitnesses, both vehicles were traveling at moderate speed when one of the drivers swerved to avoid hitting a stone lying in the center of the road. This sudden movement caused the Swift to lose balance and collide directly with the approaching i20. The impact was so severe that both cars overturned, causing injuries to all passengers inside.

Locals rushed to the scene and immediately informed the police and ambulance services. All five injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are reported to be out of danger but under observation.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the stone had been lying on the road for several days and had not been removed despite complaints. The obstruction was not visible in low light, making it especially dangerous during the night.

Police officials have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. They have also notified the municipal authorities regarding the unattended stone and the poor condition of that road segment.

One of the injured passengers said, “We didn’t see the stone in the dark. The moment our driver tried to avoid it, the car went out of control. Everything happened in seconds.”

The accident has raised concerns over road maintenance and the need for better street lighting and timely removal of hazards. Residents of the area said this is not the first such incident and demanded prompt action from civic authorities to prevent further accidents.

Police have also urged commuters to drive cautiously, especially during nighttime, and to report any such obstructions immediately.
