Moscow/New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) An armed sniper with face covering mask attacked students in the campus of Perm University, one of the oldest institutions of . The attacker had an improvised toy gun firing several shots, as seen from videos recording in the campus. The attacker had put up his photos on Social media before committing the crime. He has been caught by the security forces and is being interrogated to find his motive behind attack. Atleast 8 persons have been reported killed and 19 injured, till the time of going to the press.
The Indian Embassy in Moscow said on Monday that it is in touch with local authorities and representatives of Indian students in the wake of the shooting at Perm State Medical University and stated that all Indian students at the university are safe.
In a series of tweets, the Indian Embassy said: “All Indian students at Perm State Medical University are safe.”
“Shocked at horrific attack at Perm State University in Russia; our deep condolences for loss of life and best wishes for early recovery of those injured,” it posted.
According to reports, eight people were killed, and around 19 wounded in the shooting at the State University in Perm. The attacker has been detained.
A number of Indian students study medicine at the university, according to reports.
