SIT summons Bikram Majithia’s 4 aides on February 2 in drugs case
SAD leader’s ex-PA, ex-OSD among them
PATIALA: Almost two years after a drugs case was registered against former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, SIT probing the case has now summoned four aides of Majithia. The four, including a former PA and another former OSD to Majithia, have been asked to appear before SIT on February 2.
As per sources, SIT has summoned them at Patiala in connection with the ongoing investigation. A senior IPS officer confirmed that Talbir Singh Gill, who had unsuccessfully contested from Amritsar south, Shivcharan Singh Major Shivi, a former Army officer, Kartar Singh who was attached with Majithia as a PA and Budh Singh, have been summoned.
“They will be asked certain questions related to the drugs case and that’s why they have been summoned to appear”, said a an official attached with the SIT.
The Patiala Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar-led new SIT, which was formed on January 1, had earlier grilled Majithia about financial transactions and his links with those named in the drugs trade, on January 16.
Bhullar heads the three-member SIT with Patiala SSP Varun Sharma and Dhuri SP Yogesh Sharma as its members. The need to reconstitute SIT arose following the retirement of Patiala ADGP MS Chhina on December 30.
Majithia was booked in December 2021 on the basis of a 2018 report submitted by anti-drugs STF head Harpreet Singh Sidhu.
Interestingly, the SIT has failed to file a chargesheet into the case. The SIT has even failed to recover any drugs or name any new accused in the case despite grilling many persons in the case.
