Singhu murder : Family members of Lakhbir Singh meets NCSC Chairman

New Delhi, Oct 25 (UNI) Family members of Lakhbir Singh, who was murdered near farmers’ protest site at the Singhu border on October 15, met National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Vijay Sampla in the national capital on Monday.

Lakhbir, who hailed from a village of Tarn Taran district in Punjab, belonged to the Scheduled Caste community.

Family members, including Ms Jaspreet Kaur, wife of the deceased, her three daughters and her sister-in-law Raj Kaur, met the NCSC Chairman.
Mr Sampla assured the family members of the deceased of assistance. He also emphasized that the children will not be allowed to suffer and the Commission shall take necessary steps to remedy this wrong committed on the family.

He also informed that the Commission will ask the government to provide Rs eight lakhs as assistance and make sure that the three children are provided free education till their graduation. The Commission shall also monitor other developments and will try to provide more relief in due course.
Mr Sampla promised to visit the village and the home of the family very soon.
