Singareni workers to get 29 pc share in profits as Dussera gift
Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday evening decided to give 29 per cent share on profits of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to the workers.
This is one percent more than the last year’s and a Dussera gift for the Singareni workers this year.
Mr Rao, who conducted a review meeting on Singareni at Pragathi Bhavan here, instructed the SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Sridhar to pay the profit share to workers before Dussera.
The CM reiterated that the government is committed to the welfare of the Singareni workers.
He said that there is a need to expand the activities of the Singareni keeping in view the future of the workers.
The CM said Singareni should expand its activities besides digging of Coal, excavation of Iron ore, sand and lime stone.
He said, “To make Singareni one of the top organisations in the country in Coal Mining and power generation, the hard work and expertise of the workers is laudable.”
The expertise of the Singareni workers should not be confined only to excavate Coal but should be utilised in mining sand, lime stone and Iron ore, the CM instructed the officials to prepare plans in this regard.
“Private companies are earning profits by utilising the services of retired Singareni employees and workers , he said, adding that why can’t we do the same? and it is unfortunate that the center is privatizing the profit making PSUs.
The state government will utilise the experience and expertise of the workers, he said the government will initiate measures to provide work for the workers in managing other minerals reserves in the State.
The CM positively responded to the request made by Minister Koppula Eswar that the retired Singareni employees and workers are getting less than Rs 2000 pension per month from the Centre and that the state government should provide some help.
The CM has instructed the officials concerned to prepare reports on how the state government can help the retired Singareni Employees and workers.
