Sikhs in Singapore are lauded for their ability to uphold their culture while making significant contributions in a variety of professions. On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Wong delivered these remarks while speaking at the celebration banquet marking the 75th anniversary of the Sikh Advisory Board (SAB).
Singapore: According to Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Sikhs in Singapore have built a name for themselves in their chosen sectors and important achievements while preserving their culture, faith, and distinctive identity.
He was speaking on Sunday at the Sikh Advisory Board’s (SAB) 75th anniversary banquet.
“You all have distinguished yourselves in your vocations and contributed significantly to a variety of subjects… It’s important to note that Sikhs accomplished all of this in Singapore while maintaining their culture, faith, and distinctive identity, he said to the group.
“Whether it is in the civil service or the uniformed services, the judiciary, business, sports, or many other professions, Sikhs are well represented, excelling, and taking on leadership positions,” he said in his address to the community.
“From the perspective of the administration, we undoubtedly cherish and appreciate this extremely close partnership with the community. Although you may not be as numerous as other communities, the minister said, “your contributions to Singapore are out of all proportion to your numbers.
Lawrence Wong also emphasised the Sikh Advisory Board’s contribution to advising the government on topics pertaining to the community, including religion, customs, and general welfare.
He emphasised that the Board has always been forthright, transparent, and honest in providing its opinions on the matters that the community finds important.
