Sidhu withdraws resignation, resumes duties as Punjab Cong Chief

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday night withdrew his resignation and assured party leader Rahul Gandhi that he would resume his duties as the Punjab Congress chief.

Sidhu, who had met party leaders over his resignation yesterday, met the former Congress president at his residence on Friday night, ahead of the Congress Working Committee meet scheduled on Saturday morning.

“I have shared my concerns with Rahul Gandhi Ji, I was assured they will be sorted out,” Sidhu said after the meeting.

Party’s Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat also said that Sidhu has assured Rahul Gandhi that he will continue his duties as the state Congress chief.

Sidhu, who was made the Punjab Congress chief in July this year, resigned on September 28 due to differences with the party and some decisions of the state government. His resignation was however not accepted by the Congress high command.

His resignation had come days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as the state chief minister, saying that he was feeling humiliated by the Congress.
