Pune, May 14: Shreyas Iyer on Saturday took heat of a burning controversy pertaining to KKR franchise CEO Venky Mysore’s alleged involvement in team selection despite having the support staff led by the head coach and team captain. He clarified that the CEO is there to console players who have been warming the benches. “I want to clarify from the last interview. When I took the CEO’s name, I wanted to say that he is there to console the players who have been sitting out. It is tough for us as well when we select the team,” Shreyas said at the post-match presentation here. After defeating Mumbai Indians by a huge 52-run margin last Monday, Shreyas left KKR fans shocked by his comments that the franchise CEO was involved in team selection, despite the presence of head coach and captain in the side. Former India all-rounder Madan Lal also had lashed out at the franchise by saying that he was left shocked and dismayed at the revelation. KKR had made five changes for the game against MI by bringing back Ajinkya Rahane, Pat Cummins, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy and Sheldon Jackson. (UNI)
