‘Shobha yatra’ marks promotion of Sanskrit language at Katra
Jammu: To recognize, commemorate and revive the ancient Indian language Sanskrit in Jammu and Kashmir under the joint auspices of Central Sanskrit University, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul Katra, a ‘Shobha Yatra’ was organized on Wednesday under the aegis of Sanskrit Week from Spiritual Growth Centre which concluded at Banganga, Katra.
The Shobha Yatra was flagged off by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
World Sanskrit Day, also known as Vishva-samskrita-dinam, is an annual event focused around the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit that aims to promote its revival and maintenance.
Every year on Sawan Poornima in the Hindu calendar, World Sanskrit Day (also known as Sanskrit Diwas) is observed.
Speaking on the occasion, Garg said that the purpose of the Shobha Yatra is to restore the Sanskrit language in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and to reach the people, for this, he appreciated this innovation of Central Sanskrit University.
Besides, added that the Shrine Board under the chairmanship of LG Manoj Sinha is committed to conserving the language by promoting institutes like SMVD Gurukul.
Noteworthy, SMVD Gurukul has been providing quality modern education free of cost along with Vedic and Sanskrit education since 2010.
Dr J C Mehra, Joint CEO, SMVDSB (Administrator, SMVD Gurukul) said that Sanskrit has its foundation rooted back in the Vedas and the community should make all out efforts to promote Sanskrit language, which is a basic of all the languages. (UNI)
