Union Agriculture Minister assures full support; central team begins spot visits….
New Delhi – As heavy rains continue to damage farmlands across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the agricultural losses.
After detailed discussions with senior officials, Chouhan announced that he would personally visit Punjab to assess crop damage and interact with farmers on the ground.
“I especially wish to assure my farmer friends in Punjab not to worry. The Union Government stands firmly with them in this hour of crisis. I will soon visit the flood-affected areas of Punjab and meet with farmers,” Chouhan said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has deployed a central inter-ministerial team to Punjab. The team will begin spot inspections of flood-affected regions starting Monday, evaluating the extent of damage and recommending relief measures.
Punjab has reported significant damage to standing crops in multiple districts following incessant rainfall and flooding. Farmers are urging urgent compensation and rehabilitation support to recover from the losses.
The Union Agriculture Ministry has assured that relief measures will be expedited to support affected communities.
