Shivling Damage Attempt Sparks Protest in Gurugram
Residents protest after alleged attack by builder’s bouncers……
Gurugram Tensions flared in a prominent Gurugram housing society after residents alleged that bouncers hired by the builder attempted to damage a Shivling situated within the premises. The incident, which took place earlier today, has sparked a wave of protests from residents, who gathered in large numbers to voice their anger and demand immediate action.
According to residents, the Shivling has been a part of the society for years and holds deep religious significance for many families living there. They claim that the builder’s team, accompanied by several bouncers, arrived early in the morning and attempted to remove or break the Shivling, allegedly to clear space for construction or redevelopment. When residents confronted them, heated arguments broke out. Witnesses say the situation escalated quickly when the bouncers allegedly pushed and manhandled those who tried to intervene.
“We were shocked to see them touching our place of worship. It is not just about religion; it is about respect for people’s sentiments,” said one resident, visibly emotional. Another resident described the scene as chaotic, with elderly people and women caught in the middle of the confrontation.
Soon after the altercation, residents began a sit-in protest inside the society premises. Many held placards demanding the arrest of those responsible and chanting slogans calling for justice. Several videos of the incident have surfaced online, showing a large crowd gathered around the Shivling and security personnel standing nearby.
Local police arrived at the spot to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. Officers confirmed that they have received complaints from residents and said that an inquiry has been initiated. “We are speaking to all parties involved. Appropriate legal action will be taken if anyone is found guilty,” a senior police officer told reporters.
The builder’s representatives, however, have denied any deliberate attempt to damage the Shivling, claiming the confrontation was the result of a “misunderstanding” over routine maintenance work. Residents have dismissed this explanation, insisting that the intention was clear from the actions of those present.
Religious leaders from nearby areas have also expressed concern over the incident, urging authorities to handle the matter sensitively to avoid further tensions. Many residents have vowed to continue their protest until the Shivling is secured and those responsible face consequences.
As the evening approached, the protest showed no signs of slowing down. Residents say their unity is their strength and that they will not back down until they receive assurance that their place of worship will remain untouched.
