Sharad Pawar sole authority to take call on Presidential election: Walse-Patil
Mumbai: Maharashtra Home Minister and senior NCP leader Dilip Walse-Patil said on Tuesday that the decision on whether or not to be the Opposition’s candidate for the Presidential election this time rests solely with party chief Sharad Pawar.
While replying to a question about is Pawar aspiring for the post of President this time during an interaction with media on the sidelines of the Janata Darbar at party head office here, he said, “Sharad Pawar is a leader of the masses and enjoys support from the masses. It is not known at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
“In the end, the decision will be taken by Pawar himself and senior party leaders,” he added.
However, according to a news report in a section of media, NCP supremo has himself made it clear in party meets that he is not interested in contesting the Presidential election.
His decision has spread confusion among the Opposition parties, which are ready to support him. (UNI)
