Sharad Pawar: Certain parties incited riots in Amravati
Nagpur, Nov 17(UNI) Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said that certain parties or elements were instigating riots by keeping an eye on the forthcoming elections.
It is pertinent to mention here that there are two elections round the corner one is biennial elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council for to be held on December 10 and the corporation polls in February.
Pawar is on four-days tour to Vidarbh region of Maharashtra and against this backdrop, his visit assumes significance.
He was addressing a press conference at Hotel Centre Point in Ramdaspeth here on Wednesday, after the programme of Nag-Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce(NVCC).
“Certain parties or elements were instigating riots by keeping an eye on the forthcoming elections”, Pawar stated.
He further said that there is no need to go into deep, said Pawar adding that he never speaks before taking stock of the situation.
There was no need for erupting violence in Amravati following alleged riots in Tripura. But some people here take law in their hands.
It is also doubtful whether violence occurred in some parts of Tripura or no and hence why violent activities occurred in Amravati, he asked.
He also said that the issue of violence is sensitive and he had asked the Home Minister to personally go to the violence-affected areas and make efforts to put an end to the ongoing riots in Amravati.
To a query as to ban on Raza Academy, Pawar said that the government should enquire about activities of such outfits and then take necessary action against them.
Referring to a statement made by actress Kangana about Mahatma Gandhi, the NCC supremo said, Mahatma Gandhi has earned worldwide honour and one should avoid such statement, he pointed out.
