Senior UP cop seeks VRS to contest Assembly polls

Lucknow, Jan 8: Hours after ECI announced date for Uttar Pradesh polls, Commissioner of Police (CP) Kanpur Asim Arun sought VRS to contest assembly polls.
According of officials here, Arun, a 1994 batch IPS of ADG rank officer, has sent his VRS letter to the Union Home Ministry.
Asim Arun is the son of late Shreeram Arun, former DGP of UP.
In his message, Mr Arun said that he now wants to serve the people and the country and was thankful to UP CM Yogi Adityanath for accepting him in the BJP.
” I have a big desire to work with BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi but the only sad part would be that I would not be able to wear my favorite uniform,” he said.
According to sources, Arun could be fielded by BJP from Kannauj Sadar assembly seat in the election.
