Srinagar: Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh on Tuesday said that the security scenario of Kashmir valley is much better and in the next few months it would further improve.
“The security situation is getting better day by day. People are wholeheartedly helping the security agencies and in the coming time the situation will be better and in the coming two to four months”, the police chief said during an interaction with the media persons at central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on Tuesday.
“Over all security situations in the Union Territory are much better. The terrorist organizations have been almost wiped out,” he added.
In a question whether the “The Resistance Front” – the shadow group of Lashkar-e-Taiba was being run from Pakistan, the DGP said it was a “tactics to keep terrorism alive in some way.”
“This is being done on the pretext of the Pakistan and the ISI sponsored terror outfits especially the TRF which is a mouth piece of the terrorism to keep their activities alive in the Kashmir valley,” he said.
DGP said this is a tactic to maintain the fear in the minds of the people of Kashmir.
“They are targeting innocent laborer’s and members of minority communities who are working here… just try to derail the rehabilitation of the Kashmiri pandits in the valley. Did Pakistan have to decide who will work in Kashmir and who will not?” he questioned and said “People of Kashmir have to decide and the government has already decided it. The people have to work together with the authorities without any fear”, he added.
He said the graph of civilian killing has come down during the past 4-5 years. “If we see the terrorist killings…they are almost finished and have remained just to double digit, local as well as foreign terrorists”.
Regarding the infiltration from across the borders, the DGP said “it also came down and if one or two happened the militants were gunned down on the Line of Control itself in encounters. Some have been killed in encounters after they succeeded to infiltrate from across the border”.
In a question whether there would be any change in the situation this winter, the DGP said “when there is cold the militants try to reach their homes after leaving the woods and the chances of encounters remain there. Our forces are ready to move to jungles to nail down the militants…whether it is cold or snow…the morale of forces always remains high to continue their job”. (UNI)
