Chandigarh  In a significant development in the Chandigarh Fireman recruitment controversy, the second batch of candidates has now joined the investigation process. The authorities have intensified their scrutiny, focusing on biometric verification, handwriting analysis, and signature matching to detect possible impersonation and fraud during the recruitment process. Every day, around 20 candidates are being examined at the testing facility, with each undergoing a detailed verification procedure.

The fireman recruitment drive, once seen as a gateway to secure government jobs for many aspirants, has been clouded by allegations of foul play. The administration has taken the matter seriously following complaints of irregularities. After the first batch of candidates underwent similar tests, the second group is now being called in phases to assist in the ongoing investigation.

According to sources close to the inquiry, the verification process includes taking fresh biometric data such as fingerprints and iris scans, along with samples of handwriting and signatures. These are then matched with the records collected during the original recruitment process to confirm the identity of each candidate. Any mismatches or inconsistencies raise red flags and trigger further questioning.

Officials say this step is necessary to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the selection process. “We are not targeting anyone without reason. These verifications are being done to ensure that the deserving candidates get justice and any malpractices are brought to light,” said one of the senior officers involved in the case.

Many candidates who have appeared for verification maintain they have nothing to hide. One of the aspirants said, “It’s unfortunate that all of us are under suspicion, but I’m cooperating fully. I’ve worked hard for this job, and I want to clear my name.”

However, not everyone feels at ease. The ongoing investigations have caused anxiety among many candidates and their families. Some fear that the process might get delayed further or that innocent candidates may get caught in the crossfire of a larger scam. A few candidates have even demanded that the authorities expedite the verification timeline to avoid unnecessary stress.

The investigation began after discrepancies were allegedly found in examination records and attendance logs. There were also reports that some candidates may have used proxies to appear for exams or physical tests, prompting officials to re-verify identities using multiple authentication layers.

The Chandigarh administration has assured the public that they are committed to fairness and transparency. “Every step is being documented. We are leaving no stone unturned,” the administration said in a statement.

As the investigation continues, it serves as a reminder of the challenges in maintaining the credibility of public recruitment processes. The hope is that the genuine candidates will not be affected and the culprits, if any, will be held accountable.
