New Delhi : The Republic Day Parade 2025 will be a spectacular showcase of India’s rich heritage and progress, with a unique theme titled “Golden India: Heritage and Development.” Scheduled for January 26, the parade will feature 15 states and union territories, each presenting its distinct tableau, celebrating the diverse culture and development across the country. The selected states include Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
In addition to these states, 11 central government ministries and departments will also play a significant role in the event. The parade’s primary highlight this year will be its streamlined structure, with a guaranteed duration of just 90 minutes. Unlike the previous year, where the parade went beyond its scheduled time due to the slower pace of the French marching contingent, this year’s event promises a more efficient execution. The French contingent last year marched at a pace of 80-85 steps per minute, whereas Indian forces maintain a pace of around 108 steps per minute.
This year, there is anticipation for the inclusion of an Indonesian contingent, although the official announcement is still awaited. The parade will feature 14 marching contingents, a decrease from last year’s 16, with 8 from the Indian Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force) and 5 from paramilitary forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Among the unique elements, the BSF will showcase its iconic camel-mounted contingent, adorned in festive attire.
In addition to the march-past, the parade will feature 25 tableaux representing different states, military departments, and organizations such as the Department of Military Affairs, DRDO, Assam Rifles, and the Coast Guard. A standout feature of the event will be a performance by 5,000 artists, the largest ever seen at the Republic Day Parade. This is a significant increase from the 3,000 artists who performed in the previous year’s event. The parade will also be graced by thrilling motorcycle stunts performed by the Army Signal Corps, adding excitement and energy to the celebrations.
