NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Monday in NEW DELHI that the administration is prepared for a discussion on the Manipur issue on August 11 and that the opposition was avoiding it.

The Lok Sabha will examine the motion of no confidence from August 8 to August 10.

Congressman Gaurav Gogoi introduced the motion to compel Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the divisive Manipur issue.

Shah stated that he has written to the House chairman indicating that he is prepared to debate the Manipur issue during a Rajya Sabha discussion on the Delhi services bill.

“On August 11, I’m prepared to talk about Manipur, and we have nothing to hide. You guys don’t want to discuss because you have a lot to conceal, he continued.

The home minister stated that it is his constitutional duty to respond to all questions from the members.

According to Shah, the opposition wants to hold debates under Rule 267, which has a voting clause and is used for many things.

The home minister responded that it was not practicable now nor from August 8 to 10, when the Lok Sabha will be discussing the Congress’ no-confidence resolution, to convene a discussion on Manipur immediately as requested by a member of the opposition.

“I wrote to you earlier, before the Monsoon session began, requesting that we hold a debate on the Manipur crisis, but you did not respond. They are eluding a discussion about Manipur and do not want it, he claimed.

“The issue at hand, not a vote of confidence, is the situation in Manipur and the actions the government is taking there. During the discussion of the Delhi services bill, Shah declared, “If you want to vote, I dare you to vote this bill down.

Both houses of Parliament should debate Manipur, according to the opposition, and the prime minister should make a comment.

Shah continued, “If Kharge Sahab (the opposition leader) agrees to a dialogue, I am ready for it.
