Rajasthan: Gehlot, BJP battle bravely

Congressmen said that the public supported the government of Ashok Gehlot’s “seven guarantees” and social welfare programs.

JAIPUR: The results of the exit poll in Rajasthan have once more raised expectations for the ruling Congress to retake the majority. Rajasthan has historically rotated its government every five years. This time, some exit polls indicate that the Congress is leading, while others indicate that the BJP is leading. Still, it seems to be a very close race.

Congressmen said that the public supported the government of Ashok Gehlot’s “seven guarantees” and social welfare programs. Party strategists assert that significant voting numbers have come from SC, minorities, and the poor. The large percentage of female voters suggests that Congress benefited from programs like the Chiranjeevi Yojana, inflation relief camps, and many more.

BJP officials, meanwhile, declared that the party will win a majority and expressed mistrust for the exit polls. According to state BJP chief CP Joshi, there is a growing sentiment against Congress control and the party will regain power with a two-thirds majority.

CM Ashok Gehlot had a self-assurance. “Congress is going to become the government in Rajasthan, regardless of what the exit polls indicate. None of the five states are seeing any success for the BJP. He gave three explanations for the Congress’s triumph. First off, the wave against the government is not anti-incumbency. Second, everyone thinks the CM has exhausted all options. The third reason, according to Gehlot, is that the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and other Ministers’ language was disliked by all. Joshi responded by noting that the CM’s comments demonstrated his dissatisfaction.
