Moscow : Russian President Vladimir Putin has reignited controversy with a bold statement claiming that Ukraine belongs to Russia and that people of both nations are essentially one. In a recent address, Putin asserted that Ukraine and Russia share deep historical, cultural, and spiritual ties, framing the ongoing war as a reunification rather than an invasion. His remarks came with a stern warning, specifically pointing out Ukraine’s Sumy city, stating that any resistance there may be met with severe military action.

This declaration has been met with sharp criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who responded by accusing Putin of having no genuine interest in ending the war.
