Punjab youth plug breaches and help flood victims using modified tractors.

Youth in Punjab, riding customised tractors, are working to fill breaches and assist those who have been affected by the flood. The youth of Punjab, who are frequently caricatured for their obsession with drugs or tractors that have been modified and who suffer criticism for migrating to the west, demonstrated great spirit and rose to the challenges given by floods in the state even when the authorities failed to provide timely assistance. This was the case despite the fact that the authorities failed to provide assistance in a timely manner.

Amritsar: On July 25, after his entire village had been under water for days, 34-year-old Narinder Bhinder from Lehlan Jagir in Patiala district appealed to the youth on Facebook after learning that it would take at least seven days to close a 100-m Tangri river breach in his community. However, his three-minute Facebook live worked wonders, and within 40 hours, a number of adolescents from his and adjacent villages came to his aid and sealed the breach.

Bhinder, who gained some notoriety during the farmer demonstrations in New Delhi against the three agricultural laws, and his new group of volunteers are presently working to seal off a second breach on the same river, three km from Lehlan Jagir.
