Punjab Weather: Mercury Drops After Rain and Strong Winds, Yellow Alert Issued for 5 Days
Chandigarh : Punjab witnessed a noticeable drop in temperatures after light rainfall and strong winds across the state, bringing the mercury down by 2.8°C below normal levels.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert starting Saturday for the next five days, warning of strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 kmph along with scattered rainfall in several districts. Officials also indicated that an active western disturbance is likely to further reduce temperatures by 3 to 4°C in the coming days.
The weather department has advised farmers to take precautions to protect standing crops from possible damage due to strong winds.
On Friday, the maximum temperature recorded a drop of 1.1°C. Bathinda remained the hottest place in the state at 39.2°C, followed by Fazilka at 37.5°C, Ferozepur at 37.2°C, and Patiala at 35.6°C.
The minimum temperature also saw a slight decline of 0.5°C. Pathankot recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 18.3°C, while Rupnagar registered 18.5°C. Ludhiana and Patiala stood at 20.4°C, and Amritsar recorded 21.1°C.
