Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced that the Vidhan Sabha has passed six important bills, marking a historic step toward economic growth and industrial development in the state.
Bills Passed:
Right to Business Act
Introduces a Deemed Approval Facility for industrial projects.
Projects will be automatically approved if no response is received within 45 days.
Aims to revolutionize the industrial environment in Punjab.
Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill
Brings reforms to the state tax system.
Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Bill
Enhances transparency in the real estate sector.
Punjab Government Services (Amendment) Bill 2012
Improves government service delivery.
Punjab Town Improvement (Amendment) Bill 2020
Accelerates urban development initiatives.
Farmers Seed Policy Bill
Ensures availability of quality seeds to farmers.
Minister Cheema emphasized that if industries do not receive approvals within 45 days, the projects will automatically be deemed approved. While the bills received overwhelming support, the Congress party opposed the Right to Business Act, with Cheema stating that the party is against creating a conducive industrial environment in Punjab.
