Punjab Schools Holidays Extended Till September 3 Amid Floods
Students urged to stay safe…..
Chandigarh : In view of the severe flood situation in Punjab, the state government has extended holidays in all schools until September 3, 2025.
Earlier, schools were closed from August 27 to August 30. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced on X (formerly Twitter) that, following directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the decision covers all government, aided, recognised, and private schools in the state.
Minister Bains requested parents and students to prioritise safety and strictly adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
The extension comes as several parts of Punjab continue to experience heavy flooding, impacting schools, roads, and local communities. NGOs and Sikh organisations are actively participating in rescue and relief operations across affected areas, providing food, shelter, and medical aid to those impacted by the floods.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid non-essential travel and stay updated with weather alerts and official advisories to ensure safety during the ongoing flood situation.
