Punjab In a significant administrative move, the Punjab Police Department has implemented a high-level reshuffle involving eight officers of DIG (Deputy Inspector General) rank. The strategic transfer order was issued late Friday night and is seen as a step toward strengthening law and order in sensitive regions of the state.
Among the most notable changes, Nilambari Jagdale, a seasoned officer known for her sharp intelligence operations, has been posted as the new DIG of Counter Intelligence. Her shift comes at a time when Punjab is facing increased internal and cross-border threats, making the role critical for national security.
Meanwhile, Nanak Singh has been handed charge of the Border Range, an area frequently under the radar for smuggling and infiltration activities. Singh, with his experience in managing tense law-and-order situations, is considered a strong choice for the volatile border zone.
Sources in the Home Department indicated that the reshuffle was prompted by an ongoing performance review and a strategy to post the most capable officers in regions that demand tighter surveillance and intelligence response.
Other DIG-level officers have also been shifted to key zones across the state, including Patiala, Bathinda, and Ludhiana, in an effort to refresh policing strategies. Officials confirmed that the transferred officers have been directed to assume charge immediately, and briefings are already underway.
