Moga, Punjab: A joint police operation in Moga created chaos on Thursday when officials raided two hotels suspected of running an illegal flesh trade. During the raids, police arrested 14 people, including 8 women and 6 men, some of whom were caught in objectionable conditions.

According to the police, the raids were carried out at Hotel BR and Hotel Mehla Ram, located on Moga–Ferozepur Road near Ghal Kalan village. The hotels were being operated by Lovjeet Singh of Ferozepur and Anmol Singh of Ludhiana, who were allegedly running a prostitution racket by bringing in women from other states. Both hotel operators were arrested on the spot.

DSP City Gurpreet Singh confirmed that the action followed a tip-off about ongoing sex trade activities at the hotels. Police stated that women and young girls were being contacted through agents and then sent to hotels whenever customers were available. Customers were charged hefty amounts, while the women received around ₹1,000 per client.

During the operation led by SHO Gursewak Singh, police arrested the two hotel owners, 8 women, and 4 male customers.

Some of the women revealed their compelling personal stories. One woman said she had been divorced for 10 years, was raising two children alone, and had no other source of income. Another woman said she joined the trade three months ago after her husband’s death to support her young daughter.

Police have registered a case against the accused and further investigation is underway to trace the larger network involved in the racket.
