Punjab Issues Control Room Numbers Amid Tension

Emergency Services on High Alert as Indo-Pak Ceasefire Strains Amritsar Border

171

Punjab  : In light of the escalating ceasefire tension between India and Pakistan, the Punjab government has announced district-wise control room numbers to ensure preparedness for any emergency situation. The move comes amid increased strain along the Amritsar border, where heavy military presence and precautionary surveillance have been reported.

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has appealed to citizens to strictly follow all guidelines and instructions issued by the Indian Army and civil administration. Stressing the importance of public cooperation, Mann emphasized that safety measures are being put in place to prevent panic and maintain order in border regions.

The administration has placed all emergency services, including fire brigades, ambulance fleets, and medical response teams, on high alert. Hospitals have been instructed to activate disaster management protocols, with essential medicines, blood banks, and trauma wards being prepared for rapid deployment. Officials are also coordinating closely with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other central agencies.

Amid growing concern, the Punjab government is urging residents in sensitive border areas such as Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement, especially near the international border. Schools in several affected districts have been temporarily closed, and public gatherings have been suspended to prevent any escalation or chaos.

Local district authorities have circulated control room contact details via various media platforms to ensure that citizens can easily reach out for help or report suspicious activity. The government has also activated its rapid communication systems to provide real-time alerts and updates.

Military sources indicate that while no major cross-border incident has occurred since the last reported skirmish, the atmosphere remains tense and unpredictable. Both Indian and Pakistani forces are maintaining a heightened state of alert, and intelligence agencies continue to monitor the situation closely.

This latest development underscores the fragility of the ceasefire agreement and the urgency with which the Indian government is treating potential threats. With Punjab on alert, citizens are being called upon to remain calm, stay informed, and cooperate fully with authorities.
