Punjab IAS Officer Sumeet Kumar Jarangal Gets New Appointment as Joint Secretary at Centre

New Delhi: In a significant administrative development, Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, a 2009-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.He is presently serving as Director, Startups, in the same ministry.

Notably, Jarangal was empanelled for holding Joint Secretary-level positions at the Centre just last week, paving the way for his appointment to this key post.

Known for his administrative acumen, he has held several important positions in Punjab and has been associated with governance, industry, and public service delivery initiatives. His experience at the state level is expected to contribute significantly to policy formulation and implementation at the national level.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade plays a crucial role in promoting industrial development, facilitating ease of doing business, and attracting investments in India.

Jarangal’s wife Isha Kalia already serving  as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, GOI.
