Punjab Guv Purohit criticises CM Mann for absenting from President’s function

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has taken the Chief Minister Mann to task for being absent from the Air Force Day function where President Draupadi Murmu was the Chief Guest and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was present. Chief Minister failed to receive the President at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport, Chandigarh.

Later, reacting sharply at the Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s comments over absent of Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on

 Saturday, Punjab Cabinet minister Aman Arora said that it is very unfortunate on the part of Governor for raising this ‘political’ issue from the stage of Governor house.
Arora said that CM Mann’s event was scheduled and he had deputed him to receive and welcome President Draupadi Murmu during her visit in the Chandigarh.
He said that he along with five other cabinet ministers and all senior bureaucrats attended the event to celebrate Air Force Day today. However, the honorable governor made these unfortunate remarks against CM.
He urged the Governor to restrain from making such statements in the future.

The air show’s chief guest was President Droupadi Murmu. At the ceremony were Rajnath Singh, the governors of Punjab and Haryana, Banwarilal Purohit and Bandaru Dattatreya, the chief minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Chandigarh MP, Kirron Kher. Senior active and retired officials from the three services, together with the IAF chief, attended the air show.
