Chandigarh | Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on saturday announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who died in the Hoshiarpur LPG tanker explosion.
The tragic incident occurred late Friday night on the Hoshiarpur Jalandhar road leaving three people dead and 20 injured.
Emergency Response
The injured were rushed to Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital while the critically injured were referred to other medical facilities. A special team of doctors from Amritsar Medical College was deployed to assist with the treatment.
The fire spread quickly, engulfing nearly 15 shops and four to five residential houses near the Mandiala Adda area.
CM’s Statement
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Mann said a major accident occurred in Mandiala village due to the tanker explosion. He confirmed that the state government will provide Rs 2 lakh to each family of the deceased and assured that all injured will receive free medical treatment.
Preliminary Inquiry
Officials stated that a preliminary investigation suggests the tanker caught fire after colliding with another vehicle.This incident has raised safety concerns along the Hoshiarpur Jalandhar route, and the administration has launched an inquiry into the cause of the fire.
