President to address convocation of Central University of HP today
Dharamshala: President Ram Nath Kovind will be the Chief Guest on the occasion of the
6th convocation of Central University of Himachal Pradesh which will be held on Friday here.
The program is scheduled for the evening.
The other dignitaries who are coming to mark the occasion are the Governor of Himachal Pradesh Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur, Education Minister (HP) Gobind Singh Thakur and Chancellor of CUHP Harmohinder Singh Bedi.
Vice Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal told UNI that all the arrangements were made for the smooth functioning of this event. For this purpose, a full-fledged rehearsal was conducted in the venue of the event, he added.
Prof. Bansal said that graduating students of different streams of the academic session 2017-2019 will be awarded with their degrees. Total 46 research scholars will receive their PhD degree, of these 30 are male and 16 are female researchers, he added.
Prof. Bansal said that 69 students will be awarded the gold medal for their excellent performance in UG and PG courses. In the gold medalists tally, girl students outshine boys. 46 gold medals were bagged by girl students and 23 were bagged by boys in different academic courses taken by them.
A total of 486 degree recipients were taking part in the 6th Convocation from different streams of sciences and humanities.
The Convocation will start with the Academic Procession which will proceed further with the welcome speech of Vice Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal. He will also present the Progress Report of the University to the Visitor. After the presentation of Progress Report, President Kovind will confer gold medals and degrees to the students. (UNI)
