President Kovind hails Kerala for supremacy in education and women empowerment

Kasaragod, Dec 21: President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday said Kerala has led the other states on the critical parameters of literacy, education and women empowerment.
He was speaking at the convocation ceremony at the Central University near here on Tuesday.
The President said the advancement in literacy and educational has enabled Kerala to become a leading state on several other parameters of excellence too.
He said the 21st century is described as a knowledge century. The power of knowledge will determine the place of a nation in the global community, he said.
The Union Government has recommended names of three cities from the entire country for listing in UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning. Out of these two cities are from Kerala. These are Thrissur and Nilambur.
Being part of this Global Network supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting life-long learning opportunities for all, the President said.
Pointing out that three gold medal
winners in the convocation are girls, the President said Kerala has made strides in gender equity and women empowerment also. Kerala not only has favourable sex ratio, it has also been on the forefront of women empowerment.
“I have been observing this growing empowerment of daughters through education in other parts of the country also. In this empowerment through education of our daughters, I see the
India of the future, which will become a knowledge power with rich contribution from our daughters”, the President said.
Kasaragod is the very crown of ‘God’s Own Country’ as it is the
northern most part of the state. Kasaragod is rich in biodiversity and also has multiplicity of languages and dialects. Experts tell us that the two kinds of diversity, of species and of languages, go hand in hand. The ‘linguistic harmony’and the pristine natural beauty that Kasaragod takes pride in are
connected, he added.
