Police Trace Blind Murder Case ; 07 Accused Arrested

Sangrur: Sartaj Singh Chahal, SSP Sangrur, while addressing the press, stated that under an ongoing campaign against anti-social elements, Sangrur Police has successfully traced a blind murder case that occurred in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bhawanigarh. The police also busted a gang involved in robbery and theft and arrested seven accused.

From their possession, a canter (No. PB-AA-DC-4207), a motorcycle (No. PB-30W-8750), four stolen iron pipes, one stick, and the mobile phone of the deceased were recovered. Chahal further informed that on 07.04.2026, information was received that Ramji Singh, a resident of Balad Kalan, who was guarding a borewell machine at a plot, had been murdered by unknown persons during the intervening night of 06/07-04-2026.

In this regard, FIR No. 73 dated 07.04.2026 under Section 103 of the BNS was registered at Police Station Bhawanigarh against unknown persons, and an investigation was initiated. To trace the case, special teams were constituted under the leadership of Davinder Attri, SP (Investigation), Sangrur, and under the supervision of Daljit Singh Virk, DSP (Detective), Sangrur, and Rahul Kaushal, DSP, Sub-Division Bhawanigarh.

The teams were led by Inspector Sandeep Singh, In-charge CIA Bahadur Singh Wala, and Inspector Malvinder Singh, SHO, Police Station Bhawanigarh. During the course of investigation, on 10.04.2026, the case was successfully solved and the accused—Asneh Pathak (resident of Ward No. 32, Ram Nagar, Mandi Gobindgarh), Suraj Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, Monu Verma (all residents of Ram Nagar, Mandi Gobindgarh), Nitish Kumar and Munna Kumar (residents of Bidhi Chand Colony, Mandi Gobindgarh), along with one juvenile—were arrested.

From the accused, the canter (No. PB-AA-DC-4207, make BharatBenz), motorcycle (No. PB-30W-8750, make Splendor, silver colour), four stolen iron pipes, one stick, and the deceased’s mobile phone were recovered. Sections 310(3) and 317(2) of the BNS were also added to the case. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to having committed several other thefts.

These include the theft of 14 iron pipes and 17 sockets from Krishna Dairy Farm, village Salana Dulla Singh Wala (Police Station Amloh, District Fatehgarh Sahib) on the night of 08/09-04-2026; 15–16 iron pipes from Sahnewal Road about one and a half months ago; 5 tonnes of iron bars (saria) from Jalandhar Road, Ludhiana about one month ago; and shuttering material from a canal near village Dugri bypass about 20 days ago.

Police have obtained the remand of the accused, and further interrogation is underway. More significant revelations are expected.
