Ferozepur,:  In a major crackdown on cross-border and interstate drug trafficking, Punjab Police conducted two coordinated operations on Monday and Tuesday, recovering a total of 7.086 kg of heroin and apprehending four key accused, including the seizure of a Glock pistol, officials said.

In the first operation, the Counter Intelligence Wing, Amritsar, under AIG Navjot Singh Mahal, intercepted a drone-dropped consignment from Pakistan, seizing 5 kg of heroin from Dilbag Singh, son of Piyara Singh, and Ajit Singh, son of Ajit Singh, both residents of Village Rajewal, PS Lopoke, District Amritsar. The duo was nabbed during a targeted raid based on intelligence inputs. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar (FIR No. 61, dated 28-10-2025).

In a separate action in Ferozepur, local police, acting on a specific tip-off, stopped two motorcycle-borne suspects en route to the city and recovered 2.086 kg of heroin – classified as commercial quantity – along with a Glock pistol. The accused were identified as Jaswinder Singh, alias Shinda, resident of village Khilchi, and Arshdeep Singh, alias Deep, from village Jalal Wala (currently residing in Habib Wala). The motorcycle was impounded, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act (commercial quantity) at Sadar Police Station, Ferozepur. On-spot drug identification and videography were conducted, with IO Sukhbir Singh leading the probe.

Senior officials stated that both modules were linked to Pakistan-based smugglers using drones and local couriers for distribution across Punjab. Interrogations are underway to uncover the full network, including financiers and forward linkages.
