Ayodhya (UP): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday termed the ideals of Lord Ram, which he said is the center of faith of every countryman, as a symbol of duty and urged that following his ideals is the duty of every Indian.
Addressing the sixth Deepotsava at Ayodhya after the symbolic coronation of Lord Ram at Ram Katha Park, Modi said, “Ram never turned his face away from the path of duty. It is the duty of every Indian to follow the ideals of Lord Ram.”
He also defined the practical side of the ideals of Lord Ram in the current pretext. “Ram does not leave anyone behind. Ram never turns his face away from his duties. Therefore, Ram embodies the spirit of India, which believes that our rights get automatically realised through our rights,” he said.
Modi said that the values that Lord Ram inculcated in his words, in his thoughts, rule, administration are the inspiration of ‘Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas’ and along with this the values of Lord Rama are also the basis of ‘Sabka Vishwas-Sabka Prayas’.
The PM said, “When Shri Ram is anointed, his ideals and values become firmer within us.”
He said that for this reason Lord Ram is still the center of faith of the people in India and is practical and exemplary in the life of the common man. “Lord Rama is called Maryada Purushottam. Morality teaches to have respect and to give respect as well and the sense of morality, which needs attention, is the realization of duty,” he said.
Recalling his exhortation from the Red Fort this year about the ‘Panch Pran’, the PM said, “Energy of the ‘Panch Pran’ is connected with the element of citizens’ sense of duty. Today, in the sacred city of Ayodhya, on this auspicious occasion, we have to rededicate ourselves to our resolution and learn from Lord Ram.”
Calling Lord Ram, the living embodiment of duties, Modi said that in all his roles, Lord Ram always gave foremost priority to his duties. The PM said that in the original copy of India’s constitution there is an image of Lord Ram, Maa Sita and Lakshman.
Modi said, “The same page of the constitution talks about Fundamental Rights. Meaning while, on one hand, the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights, at the same time there is an eternal cultural understanding of duties in the form of Lord Ram.”
Referring to the ‘Panch Prans’ regarding pride in our heritage and shedding slave mentality, he said that Lord Ram also guided us on this path by keeping mother and motherland above even heaven.
Citing examples of Ram Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath, Kedarnath and Mahakal Lok, the PM said that the government has rejuvenated the places of worship that make for a part of India’s pride.
He said that there was a time when people would question the existence of Lord Shri Ram and hesitated to talk about it. “We have broken this shackling feeling of inferiority complex and put forward a holistic view of the development of India’s pilgrimages in the last eight years,” he said.
The PM said that projects worth thousands of crores are underway in Ayodhya. “From the development of roads to the beautification of Ghats and crossroads to infrastructural improvements like the new railway station and a world-class airport. The entire region will reap immense benefits from the increased connectivity and international tourism. Work is underway for the development of Ramayana Circuit,” he said.
He highlighted the societal and international dimensions of cultural rejuvenation and said that Nishad Raj Park is being developed in Shringverpur Dham that will house a 51 feet high bronze statue of Lord Ram and Nishad Raj.
He said that the statue will propagate Ramayana’s message of all-inclusiveness that ties us to the resolve of equality and harmony. Pointing towards development of ‘Queen Heo Memorial Park’ in Ayodhya, the PM said that the park will act as a medium of emboldening the international relations of India and South Korea.
He said that the Ramayana Express train is a step in the right direction when it comes to spiritual tourism. “Be it the Chardham Project, Buddha Circuit or the development projects under PRASAD Scheme this cultural rejuvenation is the start of the holistic development of new India,” he said.
Modi said that Ayodhya is a reflection of the great cultural heritage of India. He said that even though Ram was the prince of Ayodhya, his adoration belongs to the entire country.
He said, “His inspiration, his penance, his path, is for every countryman. It is the duty of all of us Indians to follow the ideals of Lord Rama. We have to live his ideals continuously, and apply them in life.”
The PM said that the people of Ayodhya have the duty of welcoming everyone to this sacred city and keeping it clean. “Identity of Ayodhya should develop as a ‘Kartavya Nagari’, a city of duty,” he said.
Earlier, PM Modi offered prayers to Ram Lala Virajman at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi on the eve of Diwali in Ayodhya. The PM’s chopper landed in Saket College where he was received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
