New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Himachal Pradesh and Punjab today to review the devastating flood and landslide situation, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed.

In the first leg of his day-long visit, PM Modi will leave Delhi at 11 am after casting his vote in the Vice-Presidential election. He will land in Pathankot, Punjab, and from there proceed to Kangra, Himachal Pradesh at around 1:30 pm.

In Kangra, the Prime Minister will:

  • Chair a high-level review meeting with state government officials.

  • Interact with flood-affected families.

  • Meet personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF), and Aapda Mitra teams engaged in relief and rescue operations.

Following this, PM Modi will conduct an aerial survey of flood-hit regions in Punjab around 3 pm. He is expected to arrive in Gurdaspur by 4:15 pm, where he will hold discussions with senior Punjab government officials and chair another review meeting on the ground situation.

The Prime Minister will also meet families displaced by the floods and interact with personnel carrying out rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

According to officials, “The Prime Minister’s direct review is aimed at closely monitoring relief and rehabilitation measures to support the people of both states during this crisis.”

Meanwhile, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who had earlier toured Punjab on the PM’s directions, briefed him about the situation. Chouhan reiterated that illegal mining along riverbanks contributed to embankment breaches, which worsened flooding. He also reported large-scale crop destruction and significant damage to fertile agricultural land across the state.
