says India ready to play active role for peace
Kyiv: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left Kyiv on Friday following a brief visit to the Ukrainian capital. He met with President Volodymr Zelenskyy and pledged to help end the war with Russia.
“My trip to Ukraine was unforgettable. I come to this beautiful nation to strengthen India-Ukraine ties. President @ZelenskyyUa and I had productive talks. India thinks peace must always triumph. I appreciate the hospitality of the Ukrainian government and people. Modi posted on X after a day of meetings and engagements.
The first Indian prime leader to visit Ukraine since Kiev’s 1991 independence was Modi, who visited amid Ukraine’s military offensive into Russia.
Prime Minister Modi informed President Zelenskyy during their bilateral meeting that Ukraine and Russia should sit down immediately to find methods to end the war and that India has supported peace since the start.
After meeting with Zelenskyy in Kyiv during the ongoing battle, Modi expressed India’s willingness to play a active role in restoring peace in Ukraine and even offer personal contributions to end the violence.
