PK Dhumal defends Centre over criticism on social media over Covid-19 handling

Hamirpur (HP), Apr 21(UNI) Former HP Chief Minister and senior BJP leader PK Dhumal on Wednesday defended the Centre on the criticism on social media over COVID-l9 handling saying, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership had given selfless services to the people along with the CORONA warriors during the first phase of the CORONA crisis.
In a statement today, he said that the country had been able to withstand the first wave of the CORONA crisis with firm hands and credit for this went to the timely and effective strategy of the Prime Minister.
He maintained that during this period, where many of the world’s health services and economies collapsed, a large part of the population of those countries fell to Corona, but India has suffered less damage than those countries. Despite all this, a section of social media was criticizing the central government and that was absurd and untrue.
Prof. Dhumal said that the second wave of Corona was showing its terrible form in the whole country. The central and state governments were doing a lot to defuse the crisis but sadly a group of people was not understanding the ground reality and issuing baseless statements through social media. He said that had the Prime Minister not taken personal interest, the situation would have been awful.
He claimed that many programs were necessary for advancing the country, state, democracy and society; we should not get confused about what was happening.
Instead, we should worry about what role we ourselves have played in this fight. Initially, those who criticized such criticism were also opposed to vaccination, but now there was a demand for giving vaccination to everyone everywhere.
The former chief minister said that if everyone had applied masks in time, followed social distancing, adopted cleanliness, got vaccinations and followed Modi ji’s words, perhaps the appearance of the second wave of Corona would not have been so dangerous.
He appealed to the people to get them vaccinated, put on masks, keep social distancing, keep hygiene and respect Corona Warriors.
