Panipat Shopkeeper Shot Over Credit Refusal
Four attackers flee after firing bullet inside crowded market; incident caught on CCTV……
In a shocking incident in Haryana’s Panipat, a shopkeeper was attacked with a firearm after he refused to give groceries on credit. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, has left local shopkeepers shaken and raised serious concerns about security.
The victim, Rakesh Gupta, runs a grocery store in the Model Town area. On Saturday afternoon, a young man entered his shop and asked for items on credit. When Gupta refused, citing policy, the man became aggressive and stormed out. Within half an hour, he returned with three other men. After a brief heated argument, one of the men pulled out a pistol and fired at the shopkeeper.
The bullet grazed Gupta’s shoulder, narrowly missing vital organs. As soon as the shot rang out, nearby customers and shopkeepers rushed to the scene. The assailants, startled by the crowd, fled in panic. Thankfully, Gupta survived the attack, and the entire act was caught on CCTV footage, which has since gone viral on social media.
Police arrived shortly after and collected the CCTV footage for investigation. Superintendent of Police confirmed that the prime accused had been identified and was previously involved in multiple criminal cases. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the culprits.
Rakesh Gupta, while recovering, expressed shock and said he never imagined a denial of credit could lead to such violence. “Many customers take offense, but I never expected someone to return with a weapon,” he said.
Local traders are now demanding enhanced security and police patrolling, particularly during business hours. The market association has called for a half-day strike in protest and support for the victim.
Panipat Police have promised swift action and urged citizens to report any information about the attackers. “We will ensure justice is served,” a senior officer stated.
