3 Youths Arrested for Robbing Retired Man at Knifepoint in Panchkula
Police recover ₹9,000 cash and knife; victim identifies accused in court
Panchkula : The Panchkula police have arrested three youths for robbing an elderly retired employee at knifepoint and have recovered part of the stolen cash along with the weapon used in the crime.
The victim, Om Prakash, a retired employee of Bijli Shakti Bhawan, Sector 6, was on his way to visit his daughter in Sector 28, Chandigarh, on September 4. While walking from KC Cinema in Sector 5 towards Shakti Bhawan to hire an auto-rickshaw, he was confronted near the Sector 24 market by three youths. They threatened him with a knife and snatched ₹11,600 from his pocket before fleeing.
Based on secret information and technical inputs, a Crime Branch-19 team led by in-charge Pritam apprehended the accused on Sunday from Industrial Phase, Sector 19. The arrested have been identified as Salman Ansari, son of Mohammad Furqan; Saqib, alias PA, son of Aslam Khan; and Sarvesh, alias Savage — all residents of Mani Majra.
Police recovered the knife used in the crime and ₹9,000 in cash from their possession. The accused were produced before the court, where the victim identified them as the culprits. They were subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
