Pakistani PM Shehbaz launches new metro bus service in capital

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday launched the first four-line inter-connected metro bus service that runs between the federal capital Islamabad and its twin city Rawalpindi.
Addressing the launching ceremony here, Sharif said Green and Blue lines of the mass transit metro bus service are a big relief for commuters of the twin cities currently dealing with high fuel prices.
Sharif said the project is part of the government’s efforts to provide an efficient and comfortable public transport system, adding that it will help address problems of traffic load, fuel cost, and environmental hazards.
Both Green and Blue lines of the bus service will connect Islamabad’s main city center to different parts of the twin cities.
The prime minister announced that the transportation service will be free of cost for commuters for one month. (UNI/XINHUA)
