Tensions between political parties have flared up after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey made a controversial statement that has drawn sharp criticism from AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Dubey, during a public speech, suggested that a “religious war” could be necessary if the Supreme Court attempts to “interfere” with religious matters. This remark has triggered a political storm, with opposition parties accusing the BJP of threatening the constitutional authority of the judiciary.

Owaisi, known for his strong stand on constitutional values, launched a scathing attack on Dubey, questioning how an elected Member of Parliament could make such inflammatory remarks. He stated that threatening the judiciary is akin to threatening the very foundation of Indian democracy. According to Owaisi, the statement by Dubey is not just irresponsible but dangerous, as it hints at promoting communal tensions under the guise of protecting religion.

The BJP MP’s comment comes at a time when the judiciary is involved in several sensitive cases related to religious practices, and Owaisi argued that such statements are an attempt to intimidate the courts. He added that this is a deliberate political move by the BJP to polarize voters and distract the public from real issues such as unemployment, inflation, and social justice.

Legal experts and civil society members have also expressed concern over Dubey’s remarks, stating that any threat against the Supreme Court is a direct attack on the rule of law. There have been growing calls from the opposition for the BJP leadership to clarify its position and take disciplinary action against Dubey for his provocative language.

Asaduddin Owaisi emphasized that India is a secular democracy, and no party or politician has the right to issue threats of religious war. He urged the public to recognize the dangerous implications of such rhetoric and called on democratic forces to unite in defense of constitutional institutions.

This controversy has added fuel to the ongoing debate about the relationship between religion and politics in India. With elections approaching in several states, this confrontation is likely to intensify political rivalries and raise questions about the limits of political speech in a democratic setup.
