Owaisi asks Muslim to leave old tradition of supporting SP and Congress
Muzaffarnagar, Oct 27(UNI) AIMIM National President Asaduddin Owaisi said that BJP won the last two Lok Sabha elections as Jats supported them in a big way.
“When Jats can defeat Ajit Singh and leave him, then why are Muslims not leaving the old tradition of supporting the SP or Congress,” he questioned. Mr Owaisi was addressing a public meeting here on Wednesday.
Referring to the NRC, he said that a large number of protests against NRC took place in Muzaffarnagar. “We will not allow Muslims to be weakened by implementation of NRC in the country.”
He said that if NRC is implemented in the country, he will come and protest in Muzaffarnagar.
Mr Owaisi took a jibe at the previous SP government and said that the party makes all the promises to woo Muslims, but during the Muzaffarnagar riots, even when there were 70 Muslim MLAs in the SP government, the Muslims were treated unfairly and were accused of rioting. He alleged that the BJP has conspired to get the the accused acquited.
On the acquittal of Khatauli MLA Vikram Saini, he said that if the BJP government is punishing the other accused of riots, then why does it not appeal to the High Court on the acquittal of Vikram Saini.
“Now Muslims will have to unite for their work and only then will the voice of poor Muslims reach at the top,” he said.
He also appealed to Muslims to remain united by supporting the AIMIM candidates in the assembly polls.
