One more arrested in the alleged illegal kidney transplantation racket

New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested one more accused from Delhi’s Rohini area in an alleged illegal kidney transplantation racket, police said on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Priyansh Sharma (34) alias Sameer, a resident of Delhi’s Rohini who pursued MBBS from Rammurati, Bareli (SRMSIS) from 2007 to 2013, and MS- Safai Etawa Uttar Pradesh from 2015 to 2018. He is a surgeon and was working in a reputed hospital of Delhi, Benita Mary Jaiker, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District.
He allegedly used to give his services to the gang leader Kuldeep alias KD during alleged illegal transplantation of kidneys in Guhana Sonipat, Haryana centre, said police.
A few days ago, 10 people were arrested who were allegedly involved in an illegal kidney transplantation racket run from Delhi’s Hauz Khas area.
Accordingly, a case under section 419/420/468/471/120B/34 IPC &18/19/20 Transplantation of Human Organs Act was registered and a probe of the same was taken up.
Police had received secret information at Hauz Khas Police Station on May 26, regarding an illegal kidney transplantation racket being run targeting the poor and needy persons and induced them to give (sell) their kidney. They further sold it to the persons who were in need of a kidney at a very high price, said police.
So far a total 11 people have been arrested by the police so far in the illegal kidney transplantation case.
