Two hospital nurses resist government outsourcing.

NEW DELHI: If the Delhi government does not withdraw a proposal to outsource the recruitment of nurses, paramedical staff, and lab technicians in public hospitals under its control, nurses at two of the city’s best hospitals have vowed to strike.

The medical directors have been asked by the nurse unions at Lok Nayak and Guru Teg Bahadur hospitals to oppose the suggestion-recording proposal. The Delhi Nurses Federation (DNF), which is highly opposed to the idea and has vowed a city-wide agitation to prevent this manner of recruitment, is in favour of the initiative.

The unions emphasised that in order to ensure that only qualified candidates are hired for nursing services, recruitment drives for government hospitals are conducted through specific competitive exams.However, the existing plan allows an outsourcing company to hire employees on behalf of institutions.

The recruiting proposal must be sent to the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board, which is a routine procedure used by the Delhi government, according to the Lok Nayak Hospital Nurses Union.
