New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) There is no exodus of workers especially migrant labour due to curbs imposed by states in the wake of Omicron surge and works at factories, construction sites and other establishments are continuing unabated, states have told Centre.
In a Co-ordination meeting held by Labour ministry to take stock of the preparedness of the states in respect of workers, senior officials from states said that there is no report of unusual movement of migrant workers at present due to the limited restrictions imposed by the governments.
“Some media reports of mass exodus regarding movement of migrant workers to their home states were found to be untrue and it was also noticed that such reporting was based on old photographs,” senior officials from states said during the meeting.
“As on the day of review, the business situation is normal throughout the country except 50% restrictions on workforce at so
me places,” they said.

Surat-based Prashant Industries Director Prashant Patel told UNI that there was no shortage of labour but given the low demand in the market and fewer export orders the need for labour itself is much less.
Chander Shekhar Goel of Goel Engineers in Faridabad also denied unavailability of labour.
