Nitish orders completion of all flood protection works before Monsoon

Patna, May 30 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday directed authorities concerned to ensure completion of all anti erosion and flood protection works before onset of Monsoon.

Mr Kumar during a review meeting with MPs, MLAs, MLCs and officials on measures required to be taken to save the people from onslaught of floods, said that safety, assistance and protection of the people from floods would be top priority of the government. Officials should take into account of suggestions given by elected representatives during their recent meetings with officials on preparedness to face the challenge of floods, he added.

Chief Minister said that all anti erosion and flood protection works should be completed before onset of Monsoon. Quality should be maintained in all works relating to flood protection works and anti erosion works, he added.

Mr Kumar said that officials should remain prepared to face any exigency during the Monsoon. Ministers and officials of four departments, Water Resources, Minor Water Resources, Road Construction and Rural Works also participated in the meeting.
