NIA conducts searches at multiple locations in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out searches at multiple locations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in connection with CPI Maoist encounter case of Bastar in Chhattisgarh.

The agency searched at 14 locations in seven districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including Hyderabad, Rachkonda, Medak, Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Nellore.

On July 28, 2019, the exchange of fire happened between the cadres of CPI(Maoist) and a combined team of local district Reserve Guard, Special Task Force and CRPF, resulting in the killing of six Maoists and one civilian, NIA said in a statement.

A case was registered in this regard at Nagarnar police station of Bastar district. NIA had re-registered the case on March 18 this year against the accused who were identified as Sanju Pandu Punem, Laxman, Munni, Dashari and 20-40 unknown others, the statement added.

Several incriminating documents, Maoist literature and digital devices were seized during the search. The investigation is still on.
