Negligence Claims Life Before Reaching Hospital

Jaipur A young man battling for his life after a snakebite tragically died on the way to the hospital due to a collision involving the ambulance transporting him. The incident occurred early Friday morning near Mangarh Khokhawala village on Agra Road in Jaipur, exposing glaring lapses in road safety and emergency response systems.

The victim was being rushed from Dausa to Jaipur for emergency treatment after a venomous snakebite. As the ambulance neared its destination, an unidentified vehicle coming from the wrong direction collided head-on with it. The impact forced the ambulance onto the footpath, severely damaging the vehicle and causing critical injuries to all five occupants inside — including the patient.

Before any further medical help could reach, the snakebite victim succumbed to his injuries on the roadside. Four others, including family members and medical personnel, sustained serious injuries and were later admitted to a nearby hospital.

The accident sparked immediate panic in the area, drawing a crowd of locals who were left shocked and angry. Many criticized the authorities, pointing out the frequent appearance of vehicles moving in the wrong direction on highways and the absence of effective enforcement.

“This is not just an accident — this is a failure of our entire system. We lost a life not because of the snakebite alone, but because the victim couldn’t reach the hospital in time due to reckless driving and lack of control on the roads,” said a bystander who witnessed the aftermath.

The Kanota police, who reached the scene shortly after the crash, confirmed the accident took place due to a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the unknown vehicle responsible.

This heartbreaking incident once again highlights the dire need for stricter road regulations and better emergency transport systems in India. While ambulances are meant to provide hope and urgency in medical crises, lack of basic road discipline can turn them into death traps.
